Utah Valley Patriot Camp Day 3
Every day we have had such excellent presenters & volunteers. Our teen leaders are fantastic and we appreciate their dedication and service. We are super proud of campers working hard to memorize the Patriot Challenge. Thursday is the last day to pass off.
Today US Representative Burgess Owens spoke to our campers to teach them a little bit about Booker T. Washington. We so appreciate him taking time out of his very busy schedule to meet with our campers! Abe Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and a Civil War soldier spent the day and shared some history with us.

- Booker T. Washington was the president of what Institute?
(Tuskegee Institute)
- What speech did Abraham Lincoln give this morning?
(The Gettysburg Address)
- What was Harriet Tubman’s first job and how did she get injured?
(Took care of a baby when she was 5 or 6. She was hit in the head with a two pound weight that was thrown at another slave.)
- What large weapons were used before cannons were invented?
(Catapults)
- What was so high tech and new about the Civil War Soldier’s shoes?
(They were some of the first shoes made for left and right feet.)
- Does the Liberty Bell taste good?
- What is your favorite song you are learning for the program?
